“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” Deuteronomy 29v29
It is now eight weeks since our lives have been subject to considerable change. Many of us have more time to eat, drink, try to be merry, sleep, relax and generally complain. Or is there more time to praise, pray, read, think, meditate and respond to God’s leading?
Mysteries abound and with more time on our hands we might be pondering concerns like:
How the world was created.
How exactly we were made and for what purpose.
How spirit and soul remain in the body.
How the sensations of the body become the experiences of the mind.
How we experience and react to the seemingly unfair distribution of hereditary evil and disease, of afflictions, adversity, frustration and suffering.
How COVID 19 came about, why it is here and for how much longer it is likely to be around.
Mercifully there are also certainties, and the most important ones are:
The one true God, in whom we believe, is our loving heavenly Father who is also our Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer.
He has demonstrated this love for us by sending His one and only Son Jesus to live on earth, be our perfect example, teach us how to live, but, most important of all, die to forgive our sins and assure us of eternal life.
He has given us His Holy Spirit to empower and inspire us.
He has provided His Word, the Bible for us to read, understand and obey.
It is clear that there are things which we are not meant to know yet. They are withheld not for deprivation, but for the purpose of discipline and development. We surely need to concentrate on what has been revealed and content ourselves with these wonderful truths.
And by the way, the answer to all the mysteries mentioned above is the same:
God alone knows

Exactly the text I was thinking on today. Many thanks
