When Josh is asked ‘Where are you from?’, there are a few answers – Lancaster, Bristol, Oxfordshire, East Sussex, India! Josh is originally from India, having moved to the UK and living in England since the age of 10. He was born into a Christian family, and though he was faithfully taught the gospel from a young age, it was only when aged 15 that Josh personally came to faith, thanks to God convicting him of his sin and need of Jesus (the song ‘All I have is Christ’ most aptly describes Josh’s conversion).
After studying Engineering in Bristol, and doing the UCCF Relay programme for a year in Lancaster, Josh moved to Newtown in Mid-Wales in 2017 (although he’d been to Newtown and NEC before that for summer placements).
Josh writes: “It was solely engineering work that brought me here initially, with no prior links to this area. But wonderfully, God has blessed me with not only a good workplace and community, but also, or more so, a godly, gospel-centered church in which I’ve been welcomed as family right from the start. I’ve had the privilege of serving at NEC as a member since Sept 2017, and as a deacon since August 2018. I’m also involved in the young people’s work, having a big heart for discipling young men in 1 to 1 contexts.”
Josh is a big cricket fan, but also enjoys and follows most sports (football, rugby etc). Josh has built a bit of a reputation (for better or worse!) as a keen boardgamer! And he’s also a fan of some (though not all) Christian rap!
